Privacy policy

Calculator inputs

All calculations run in your browser with JavaScript. The values you enter, such as income, loan amounts or dates, are not sent to our servers and we do not store them. When you use the Share button, your inputs are written into the page address so the link reproduces your result; that link goes only where you send it.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our web server records standard request information: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user agent. We use these logs to keep the site secure (for example, to block abusive automated traffic) and to fix errors. Logs are kept for up to 14 days and then deleted. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes the same information to protect the site and may set a strictly necessary security cookie.

Contact form

If you write to us, we store your message, the optional name and email address you provide, your IP address and browser type so we can reply and prevent spam. Messages are kept for as long as needed to handle them and deleted within 24 months. You can ask us to delete your message at any time.

Countdown reminders by email

If you ask for a reminder on a countdown page, we store your email address, the event or date and name you entered, how early you want the email, and the IP address and time of the request. We first send one email asking you to confirm; nothing else is sent until you do. After that we only email you about that reminder. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, which stops it immediately. Unconfirmed requests are not used, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time through the contact page. We do not share these addresses or use them for anything else.

Advertising and cookies

fcalculator is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a service provided by Google, to show ads.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through a consent message provided by Google. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link shown by that message.

Installed app and offline use

If you install fcalculator as an app, your browser keeps copies of the pages and files you have opened so they work offline. This cache stays on your device; you can clear it in your browser settings.

Analytics

We do not currently use a third-party analytics service. Traffic statistics come from our own server logs described above.

Children

The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and California privacy law, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its use. Because we hold very little, these requests usually concern a contact form message or server logs. Write to us through the contact page. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
